PowerBall

These images and small animations are from the new Powerball advert. Inside the Powerball is a set of podiums and the overall look was to resemble a stadium of sort. The new Powerball for which this advert was created was the new kind that had lights that would spin around as you speed up the gyroscopic device and to represent this, the stadium had a light that spun around at a fast pace. The Powerball product is great for building up strength in your hands and wrist and so is a great sporting gadget for people like drummers and rock climbers. The stadium has a number of podiums which all the different types of sporting people would stand to demonstrate the product and its benefits. There was a large use of different special effects in the animation of the stadium in order to achieve the look. I used a large number of lights to give me the bouncing lights effect found in stadiums and also a heavy use of volumetric lighting to give it atmosphere also to make it a bit surreal and more atmospheric I applied some fog and mist around the stadium.

The video clip below shows the scene in OpenGL and so it is possible to see all the lights in the scene and how they were animated to get the final look.
